Soap Plantation FragrancesAt the Soap Plantation, we pride ourselves on offering (and maintaining in stock) a wide variety of different and popular fragrances. Heres a small listing of the fragrances we keep in stock for our soap, shampoo, lotion, body wash, bubble bath, salt scrub, and bath salt products: Essential Oils vs. Fragrance OilsThe Soap Plantation uses both Essential Oils and Fragrance Oils to scent our products. Essential Oils are natural products distilled directly from some plant whose fragrance the oil captures. Fragrance oils are derived from some other source than the plant whose fragrance they mirror. The Soap Plantation uses both types of oils in our products because many fragrances are not available as Essential Oils, including most vegetable and fruit scents. Beyond availability, Essential Oils do have a couple of other drawbacks. First, they are usually quite a bit more expensive than fragrance oils (affecting the price of the ultimate product). Second, they are more volatile and the scent dissapates faster. Essential oils are great for aromatherapy, but at the concentration levels found in typical soap products, any aromatherapy claims would be rather dubious; and if the Soap Plantation were to put sufficient essential oil in a cleansing product so you could reap such benefit, youd have to take a second shower or bath to eliminate the overpowering fragrance! As a general rule, the Soap Plantation uses Essential Oils where possible or practical (in very low concentrations), and uses fragrance oils for those scents that are not available as an essential oil or the price is cost prohibitive for use in a soap product. |
